Lincrusta in Accrington & Rossendale Eco-project Lincrusta in Accrington & Rossendale Eco-project

Level 1 Students at Accrington & Rossendale College took part in an eco-project to redecorate the college entrance foyer starting in January 2010.

Lincrusta, made entirely from natural materials most of which are sustainable, was chosen for use in many parts of the project - Chequers, a small-scale contemporary design framed the main display cabinet within the entrance foyer whilst Cleopatra, our latest feature ogee design was used in the corridors.

Other innovative eco-products used included eco paint kettles, brushes and trays, recycled lining paper and low VOC and non-toxic paints.

Programme Leader and Project Coordinator Phil Burgess commented, "Painting and decorating can involve a lot of toxic materials and we want to show our students ecologically friendly options and educate in what is available. These youngsters will be the painters and decorators of the future, so we want them to feel happy using these new, ecologically sound materials".
